Maybe you’ve heard about it – the fastest growing standalone website ever. It’s called Pinterest and it has more than 11 million unique users per month. Used as on online pinboard, the site allows users to post ideas and links to a virtual space where people can connect and share their “pins”. The content on the site covers everything including food, fashion, beauty, decorating, art, film, books and DIY projects. Unique visitors to the site grew 400% from September to December 2011, and a February study showed that Pinterest drives more visitors to third-party websites than Google+, YouTube and LinkedIn combined. It’s estimated that almost 95% of total users are women and those promoting on the site – business owners, retailers and bloggers – are experiencing huge growth in sales and recognition. Bottom line: it’s a great place to get noticed and it’s a great place for inspiration.
