Putting Your Best Foot Forward
About 3 out of 4 Americans experience serious foot problems in their lifetime. Their are 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments and 19 muscles in the foot and when those bones are out of alignment, so is the rest of the body. Proper foot care is very important.
Tips for healthy feet.
• Examine your feet regularly. Pay attention to changes in color and temperature of your feet. Look for thick or discolored nails (this could be a sign of developing fungus), and check for cracks or cuts in the skin.
• Wear comfortable shoes that fit
• Sometimes proper innersoles can be of benefit
• Don’t ignore foot pain, If pain persists, see your physician
• Wash your feet daily with soap and lukewarm water
• Alternate shoes—don’t wear the same pair of shoes every day
• Trim your toenails straight across and not too short
Remember… Keeping your feet healthy is one way to get moving in the right direction.
